Twin-rotor UAV. The aircraft takes off, holds a target height, and lands steadily.

Overview

In the College Student Electronics Design Contest of Hunan Province, our team built a twin-rotor UAV that can take off, hover at a target height, and land on its own.

System

  • Mechanics: a light frame with 3D-printed parts carrying two rotors, the battery, and the electronics.
  • Sensing: on-board sensors measure the height and attitude of the aircraft.
  • Control: microcontrollers run closed-loop controllers that drive the two rotors to keep the aircraft level and at the target height.

Result

Our UAV achieved the highest hovering-height precision among all teams, and won the 1st Prize.
